Abstract

The Karahodža family from Žepče (Karahodža zaDe) was famous in the past for the good education of its members and some very learned men such as Ahmed ef., Abdulah ef. and Abdul Vehab ef. Came from it. All the three of them wrote poetry either in Turkish or in Serbo-Croat. It hasbeen preserved in some codices.

Abdulkadir Hadžiahmetović from Visoko, the descendant of the Karahodža family on the father's side, possesses a codex which was written in 1773 by Abdul Vehab ef. Karahodža. It is of miscellaneous contents and has 138 pages 34 of which are blank. Among other things it contains the transcript of the waqfname of Hadži Halil ef., the mudarris, who founded the library in Gračanica, his birth place. Several poems there written in Turkish and signed by Abdul Vehab prove that he also wrote poetry in the Turkish language.

The author of this paper gives the analysis of the contents of the whole codex and the data available on the Karahodža family and its membres mentioned above.
