Abstract

Five public and several private libraries were founded in Mostar during Turkish rule. The present paper gives a list of Muslims who died between 1276/1859-60 and 1292/1874-75 and whose legacies were registered in the sijjil and kassam defter of the Kadi of Mostar, which contains, beside the Kur'an and the An'am at least one more work in an oriental language. Although two works do not make a library, it was thought necessary to mention them in the present paper, since there are such works among them of which there is no mention in the available catalogues.
